We have 33 new additions to the farm! They arrived the 1st week of December via USPS. They were in the garage to start with, but for the last few days they have been in the bathtub. Heat lamps aren't enough for the sub-20's temps in the garage. Our current hens are 2.5-years-old and in 6 months these chicks will take over. The price of eggs in Metro-Atlanta is $4.99 a dozen for store brand, not the cage free or organic ones. That's way more than the 50% increase that the news media claims. As a result, we have way more customers and struggle to fulfill their needs. I love livestock that pays for themselves! If you can, get a few chickens, but make sure you don't break your zoning or HOA rules. Yeah, HOA's. Don't get me started. That's a topic for another time.
